The CIM – Cyprus Business School and the University of West London are organizing a Ceremony followed by a Networking Cocktail on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of their collaboration, on Wednesday 29 April 2026 at 19:00 at the British High Commissioner’s Residence.

Mr Michael Tatham CMG assumed the role of British High Commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus in November 2024. Previously Mr Tatham was the Delivery Director for the European Political Community Summit hosted by the UK in July 2024. He was the UK’s Deputy Head of Mission in Washington DC from 2018 to 2022. He has completed a number of diplomatic postings and has specialised in supporting post-communist transition processes and conflict resolution in Central and Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans. Mr Tatham has also served as Director Eastern Europe and Central Asia; Political Counsellor at the UK Mission to the United Nations; British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina; Head of Western Balkans Group in the then FCO; Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Prague; and Private Secretary (Foreign Affairs) to the Prime Minister.

Yangos Hadjiyannis studied at the University of Nottingham where he earned an LL.B. with a First-Class Honours. He then moved to the University of Cambridge (Trinity Hall) where he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies and the next year, he earned an LL.M. in International Law with First Class Honours. In 2022, he completed successfully the highly exclusive Executive Education program “Authentic Leadership” at Harvard University. In July 2022 he was proclaimed into an Honorary Doctor by the University of West London. He is the CEO of CIM Cyprus Business School since 2020. He is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of CIPA (Invest Cyprus) and an Independent Non-Executive Director at KEDIPES. He is a member of the Executive Committee of Cyprus’ Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB) and Chairman of the Education, Training & New Talent Commitee


Demetris Skourides serves as the Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation and Technology of the Republic of Cyprus, leading the nation’s strategic agenda in research, innovation, and technology. He plays a central role in shaping national policy and contributing to international dialogue on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and innovation governance. He chairs the National AI Taskforce and the Board of the Research and Innovation Foundation, and participates in international bodies including JRC, ESAF, Ignite Cyprus, and Future4PRIMA. He holds academic and executive credentials from Arizona State University, Henley Management College, Columbia, Stanford, MIT, and Harvard, and has held senior leadership positions at Oracle and Amazon Web Services.

Dr Athena Michaelidou was appointed Minister of Education, Sport and Youth on March 1, 2023. Dr Michaelidou is a graduate of the Cyprus Pedagogical Academy and has received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Thessaloniki. She has an M.A. in Education from the University of Manchester and has completed a Ph.D. in Educational Studies at the University of London, specializing in educational research and evaluation. Having served as a public-school teacher, she then went on to teach as a professor of Pedagogy at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, also serving in the positions of its Head of the Research and Evaluation Department, Head of the Educational Research and Evaluation Center and, finally, as its Director. In this capacity, she served as Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth (MOECSY) and has represented the Ministry abroad in working groups of the European Commission on education issues. She also worked as collaborating educational staff at the Open University of Cyprus and the University of London. Dr Michaelidou has coordinated a number of horizontal actions and innovations of MOECSY and has coordinated and taught for many years seminars and programmes on educational innovation, action research and educational policy. Her research interests mainly concern professional development and the introduction of innovations in education. In July 2022, by decision of the Council of Ministers, Dr Michaelidou was appointed as Acting Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Ministry of Culture, bringing her extensive knowledge of educational administration to build a strong foundation for the newly established Deputy Ministry. Dr Michaelidou comes from Kyrenia, and is a mother of two.
