The 2020s will be the most important decade for the growth of the local economy and entrepreneurship in Limassol. The city experienced unprecedented growth over the previous10 years and the Summit will provide a platform for professionals in each sector to set out their vision and submit practical proposals for Limassol’s new growth model. Limassol has the potential to become the business star of the Mediterranean, a city that attracts foreign investment and establishes itself as the location of global multinational companies. The summit aims to highlight different aspects of Limassol, a city that can meet both the professional and lifestyle needs of high-income buyers, by making it the new Mediterranean business star. The summit aims to bring together all major stakeholders of the city of Limassol with one principal objective: to share ideas and suggestions on how to grow the city into one of the most important international business centres and premium lifestyle destinations in the Mediterranean.

Liakos Theodorou

Partner, PwC Cyprus & Vice President on Economic affairs, Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Liakos Theodorou is a PwC partner heading the Limassol market. He started his career with PwC in London in 1986 and returned to Cyprus in 1992. He has extensive experience in auditing and business advisory services with a client portfolio of local and international companies. He was the Assurance and Advisory Leader and a member of the Management Board of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Cyprus till 30 June 2019. He is currently the Vice President on Economic affairs of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a Member of the Board of Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA) and the Board of Cyprus Chamber of Commerce (KEBE). He was a member of Council the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus from 2013 to 2016.He has also served as one of the five members of the Cyprus Commission for the Protection of Competition from 2003 to 2008. Liakos has an Honors degree in Economics from London School of Economics and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. He has attended a number of PwC and business school professional development programs.

Nicos Nicolaides
Mayor of Limassol

Nicos Nicolaides holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College (USA) and an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California (USA). From 1978 -1981 he worked at the Athen’s Headquarters of METKA SA, a company dealing with the provision and erection of power stations, ports and mining systems. From 1978-2008, he worked with the Electricity Authority of Cyprus holding various engineering and management positions. He served as President of the Board of Cyprus Road Transport Licensing Authority from 2006-2008. From 2008 – 2010 he served as Minister of Communications and Works. In May 2011 he was elected a Member of the Parliament with the Cyprus Social Democratic Movement. He was a member of four parliamentary committees, Finance, Communications and Works, Legal and Agriculture, and the ad hoc Committee for Cyprus Airways. From May 2016 until May 2017 he served as the Chairman of the Committee of Institutions, Merit and the Commissioner for Administration (Ombudsman). As an MP he participated in the Cyprus Delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where he was a member of the Committee of Legal Affairs and Human Rights, and the Committee of Culture, Science, Education, and Media. In June 2013 he was elected as the Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Culture, Diversity, and Heritage. On December 18, 2016, he was elected Mayor of Limassol.

Andreas Tsouloftas
President of Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Andreas Tsouloftas graduated from the Civil Engineer school of the University of Manchester UMIST (UK) in 1979. He founded Tsouloftas Constructions Ltd in 1980 and later A. Tsouloftas & Sons Ltd. He is the Managing Director of the Tsouloftas Group of Companies and associated Joint Ventures. He is a shareholder, member of the Executive Committee and the Director of Limassol Marina Ltd. He is the President of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a member of the Executive Committee of Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has also served as President of the Rotary Club Limassol-Amathusia, President of Round Table Cyprus, and President of Round Table no4 Limassol. He is the President of the Limassol Police Friends Association since 2006. He is a member of ETEK (Civil Engineering) since 1979, and a member of the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers.

Marcus Andersson

Founder and CEO, Future Place Leadership, Sweden

Marcus Andersson is Founder and CEO of Future Place Leadership, a Nordic consultancy helping cities, regions and countries to become more attractive, sustainable and connected. He has advised countries and cities such as Finland, Denmark, Basque Country, Ireland, Sweden, Berlin, Barcelona and Oslo on investment promotion, talent attraction and place branding. He has worked for the Swedish Government and the European Commission, with communications and management in policy areas such as international relations, sustainability and innovation. Marcus holds an MA in Political Science and MSc. in Marketing, Business and Economics, and has published a range of handbooks, books and academic papers on topics such as country branding, digitalisation, talent attraction and FDI attraction.

Lyublena Dimova

Research Manager, European Travel Commission (ETC), Belgium

Lyublena Dimova has been part of the ETC’s Research & Development team since 2015. Her main responsibilities include continuous monitoring of trends in the European tourism sector and short-term forecasting of travel demand from key overseas and European markets. As well as her constant communication with National Tourism Organisations, she is in charge of the development of ETC’s Executive Dashboard - a “data hub” that provides simple access to key indicators and market intelligence information for the travel and tourism industry in Europe. Lyublena Dimova is also involved in research activities linked to the European Tourism Association, the European Commission, and the UN World Tourism Organization.

Sotiris Kambanellas

Financial Controller, City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos

Sotiris Kambanellas is the Financial Controller of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos. Sotiris has joined the company in in the early stages of the Project in 2018 as a part of the pre-opening team. He is leading various Finance functions including Financial Planning and Analysis, Accounting and Tax, Treasury and Data Analytics. Before joining Melco, Sotiris worked in Shipping and Real Estate for high profile International companies at various Financial roles. A Big 4 trained Chartered Accountant, Sotiris studied Accounting and Finance and subsequently qualified as an ACCA member. Sotiris is an Executive MBA scholar at Warwick Business School.

Christos Mouskis

Chairman & Managing Director, Muskita Hotels Ltd

Christos Mouskis has been serving the hospitality industry for 30 years from the position of managing Director of Muskita Hotels Ltd, a company that operates the prestigious Four Seasons and Amathus hotels in Limassol. He is also the managing Director of the owing company of the newly established in Cyprus Robinson club which is a unique property and one of TWI group most successful hotel concepts. Nikiforos Pampakas
General Manager, Limassol Marina Ltd

Nikiforos Pampakas is the General Manager of Limassol Marina, the first superyacht marina in Cyprus which has recently been completed. Nikiforos brings with him significant experience, particularly in business marketing, sales, and customer service, acquired through his diverse roles in multiple sectors in Cyprus and abroad. He also holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Bedfordshire in England. He began his career as the Project and Marketing Manager at the British Association of Medical Managers England. He later moved on to Pafilia Property Developers in Paphos, Cyprus, where he served in various roles in the Marketing Department. As his professional expertise expanded, Nikiforos went on to serve as Marketing and Sales Manager at Kanika Developments Ltd in Limassol. Farah Shammas

Managing Director, St Raphael Resort & Marina

Farah Shammas is the Managing Director of the five star St Raphael Resort and Marina where she oversees the whole resort which stands in 43,000 sqm of landscaped gardens on a beautiful Blue Flag beach. The Resort includes a 237 berth private port of entry marina, many conference facilities, an award-winning spa, and 7 restaurants including Cyprus’ first vegan hotel and beach restaurant. Michalis Charalambous
Chief Financial Officer, Remedica

Michalis Charalambous completed his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of Kent, in the United Kingdom. Whilst working in a London based audit firm, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 2009 and then enhanced his professional skills by working as an auditor for a number of different industrial companies. Upon, repatriating to Cyprus in 2012, he was employed in the automotive industry, which, due to the economic crisis, represented a challenge but allowed him to further enhance his skills and get to know the Cypriot industrial business environment. Over the years, he has attended various seminars both in Cyprus and overseas as part of his continuous professional development. Mr Charalambous joined the Remedica family as Financial Controller in 2016 and is now the Company’s Finance Director.

Marios Kassapis

General Manager, Kean Soft Drinks Ltd

Marios Kassapis graduated from Birmingham University with a BSc in Chemical Engineering, and holds the professional title of Chartered Accountant. In 1982, he began his career as an auditor in Russel & Co/Arthur Young in Nicosia. Later, he worked for Tetra Pak Sweden’s operations in the Middle East. Since 1997, he is the General Manager of KEAN Group. Through this position he has contributed in the remarkable evolution of the Group, continuously affirming its leading position in Cyprus and abroad.

Pambos Panayiotou

Managing Director, KEO plc

Pambos Panayiotou was born in Paphos in 1971. He graduated from the London School of Economics obtaining a BSc in Management Sciences. Thereafter he obtained the professional qualification of the ICAEW (Chartered Accountant) while being employed by Coopers and Lybrand. Subsequently he joined the Cyprus Popular Bank for a three year tenure where he participated in the implementation of specific projects. In 2000 he joined the Holy Bishopric of Paphos as the General Manager for the Hotel and Golfing Operations. In 2010 he was employed as the Managing Director of KEO plc, a position he still holds. He has participated in the Board of Directors of Vassiliko Cement Works plc, the Hellenic Bank, the Hellenic Mining Company, the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation as well as other Boards.

Jorn Wemmenhove is an urban change maker passionate about creating cities that are human and kind to ourselves, others and our planet. He co-founded Humankind; the agency for urban change, helping cities, companies & NGO’s to accelerate urban change through creative strategies & activations. Projects connect public space and mobility creating active and inclusive cities. Working with a holistic approach with a multidisciplinary team of urban planners, creatives, transition theorists, communication specialists, social entrepreneurs, psychoanalysts, etc. he turns visions into actions. At the age of 20, he co-founded non-profit El Desafío Foundation, promoting youth development and local democracy in Rosario, Argentina. Jorn is on a mission to create human & kind cities for all.

Georgia Constantinou-Panayiotou
Board Member, Cyprus Bar Association

Georgia Constantinou-Panayiotou is the Founder/Managing Partner of CONSTANTINOU PANAYIOTOU & CO LLC (GCP LAW), established in 2006. She is the Spokesperson/Board Member of the Cyprus Bar Association (CBA). She is a Certified Risk Management Specialist in Russian Sanctions (CRMS-RS), recognized as a high-performing professional with the skills to identify, assess, and manage sanctions risks. Georgia is a licensed lawyer and a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner. She holds a Law degree from the National & Kapodistrian University in Athens and a Masters degree (LL.M.) in European (Commercial) Law from the University of Leicester. She completed two accredited courses on “International Relations/World Politics” and “War Crimes, Genocides and Justice” (Harvard University/DCE-2001). Georgia is a Member of the Advisory Board of the European Lawyers Foundation, the President of the Committee of Young Lawyers and the Supervisor of the Committee of Companies of the CBA. Georgia is a leader in the legal industry with 20-years experience, specialised in Contract law, Company law, M&A, International Private law, Commercial law, Trust law, AML regulations, secured corporate finance and restructuring. Georgia acts as legal counsel in cross-border projects, representing HNW individuals and prominent organisations. For several years she was the Instructor of Commercial Law and Trust Law at the European University Cyprus. She is an investor in start-ups for digital technology, marketing and communication, in Cyprus and Greece.

Nicos S. Kyriakides

Head of Financial Advisory Services, Deloitte Cyprus

Nicos S. Kyriakides is the Financial Advisory Services Leader of Deloitte Cyprus. He has extensive experience of more than 38 years in Audit, Corporate Finance, Insolvency, Business Consulting and International Tax planning. He has led a large number of Consultancy and Financial Advisory projects across different industries relating to Valuations, Mergers and Acquisitions and Due Diligence Reviews, Reorganisations of Groups of companies, Capital and Debt Restructurings, Evaluation of NPL portfolios, Forensic and Insolvency work, Fairness Opinion Reports and Public Offerings. Nicos has prepared studies for the financing of Renewable Energy projects, Marinas, Golf courses, Hotels and large Real Estate Development projects. Nicos is a Chartered Accountant, fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), and holds a B.Sc. in Economics (Accounting & Finance) from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Demosthenes Mavrellis

Demosthenes Mavrellis is a partner at Chrysses Demetriades & Co. LLC, specializing in corporate finance. He is a graduate of Kings College London and Georgetown University, Washington DC. He has and continues to advise major international institutions in the field of capital markets and syndicated lending as well as corporate restructurings and NPLs. Other interests include renewable energy and mergers and acquisitions. He has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Cyprus University of Technology, where he has served a term of 5 years and continues to be a member of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and the Standing Committee for Services of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce.

Michalis P. Michael

Chairman, Invest Cyprus

Michalis P. Michael is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency since January 2018. He has a long professional career in business and audit services, both as a sole practitioner and as a Partner in KPMG Cyprus. Michael has a vast experience in the Ukrainian market, and he is the Chairman of the Cyprus-Ukraine Business Association from 2012 until today. Michael has been actively involved with public life since his early career. Formerly, he served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (1996-2000), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Organisation of Land Development (2000-2003), Member of the Committee for the Supervision and Development of Cooperative Societies (2003-2013). He was also Member of the Board of Directors of The Cyprus University of Technology (2014-2016) where he held the position of Vice-President (July 2016-2018). Michalis is a Chartered Certified Accountant, a Fellow member of the UK Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus, of which he served also as a Member of the Board of Directors.

Michalis Hadjipanayiotou

Chairman, Cyprus Land & Building Developers Association & CEO, Cybarco Development Ltd

Michalis Hadjipanayiotou is the CEO of Cybarco Development Ltd, a member of the Lanitis Group, the Chairman of The Cyprus Land and Building Developers Association and a Board Member of The Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB). He is also a Board Member of Limassol Marina Ltd, the Executive Director of Trilogy Limassol Seafront Ltd, and a Member of other Boards of Directors. A Senior Executive, with over two decades of leadership experience across multiple industries, he has a strong history of achievement with year-on-year growth in revenue and profit. A board level collaborator, with a track record of successfully balancing stakeholder interests, he has driven the sales, marketing and business development for pioneering developments in Cyprus and multinational corporations like Pepsico International and Procter & Gamble. Michalis is a Fulbright Scholar with an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin and a First-Class Honours undergraduate in Finance and Econometrics from Manchester University.

Pantelis Leptos
Co-President, Leptos Estates

Pantelis M. Leptos was born in Athens, Greece on 23/10/1964. He holds a BSC in Civil Engineering, and a Master of Science in International Finance, Trade and Shipping. He is the Co Chairman of The Leptos Group of Companies, one of the largest and most successful private Groups in Cyprus and Greece and is the President and Member of the Board of Directors of the Public Company “Leptos Calypso Hotels Ltd”. Furthermore he is the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Land and Building Developers Association and a board member of CIPA. Pantelis Leptos has been the Ex-President of The Paphos Hotel Owners Association and the ex-Board Treasurer of the Cyprus Hotel Owners Association. He is also the Past President and Honorary President of FIABCI Cyprus. He is a Member of the Cyprus Technical Chamber (ETEK) and is also the Honorary Consul for Jamaica in Cyprus. He currently serves as member of the Board of many other social and professional bodies.

Michalis Zavos

CEO, D. Zavos Group Land & Building Developers

Michalis D. Zavos was born in Famagusta in 1963. He is a graduate in Business Administration of the University of Central Florida U.C.F./USA. From 1989 since 2010 he was appointed Managing Director of D. Zavos Group of companies and from 2010 since today he is the Chief Executive Officer of D. Zavos Group and KRIEL Group, which are active in the development of Land and Buildings, in hotel enterprises and in the health sector. He served as a member of the Board of Directors in various semi-governmental organizations and he is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Polyclinic “Ygeia”, of the Association of “Major Projects”, a member of the Board of “CTL College”, president of the Company “Sports Center A. Papadopoulos Famagusta” and member of the Board of the “Pancyprian Association of Land Development and Construction Entrepreneurs”. In 2019 he has been awarded the Business Leader award in the category Real Estate- Construction-Land Development. The award was presented by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Vassilios Demetriades
Shipping Deputy Minister to the President, Republic of Cyprus

Vassilios Demetriades is the Shipping Deputy Minister to the President since 10 July 2020. Prior to his appointment he served as a Policy Officer in the Directorate General of Mobility and Transport of the European Commission dealing with the coordination of the EU maritime transport strategy and EU’s external maritime transport relations for 5 years. He was previously involved in the promotion of EU sustainable shipping initiatives through the coordination of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum and he has also served as a Member of Cabinet of Commissioner Vassiliou responsible for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth. He has formerly served the Cyprus Public Administration in various positions: Head of EU Affairs at the Cypriot Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works dealing with the formulation of Cyprus’s national position to the EU transport, telecommunications, integrated maritime and space policies as well as with the overall coordination of the Cyprus Presidency to the EU pertaining to these areas and as trainer-lecturer on EU Affairs at the Cyprus Academy of Public Administration (2009- 2013); Counsellor for Maritime Affairs at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU (2004-2008); Maritime Affairs Officer at the Cyprus Maritime Administration (1998-2004). He studied Economics at the University of Surrey and then acquired an MSc in Management Science.

Nikolaos Kratimenos
General Manager, Safe Bulkers Management Ltd

Nikos Kratimenos is the General Manager of Safe Bulkers Management Ltd., since 2017, a company based in Limassol Cyprus. His tenure with the Safe Bulkers Group started in 2014, when he joined Safety Management Overseas S.A. in Athens Greece as Internal Controls Manager and from 2016 as General Manager. With diverse studies in Business Management, HR & Organizational Behaviour, Mr. Kratimenos also holds a master’s degree in Procurement, Logistics & Freight Management and has gained broad international experience in various industries and leading multi-national companies. From 2012 to 2014, Mr. Kratimenos started his Maritime career by serving as General Manager of MSC - Mediterranean Shipping Company (Albania & Balkan Region). Prior to that, between 2005-2012 he had joined Fourlis S.A., as Group Procurement Director, representing the Group companies such as Samsung, IKEA and Intersport. He began his diversified working background from 1997 to 2005, by holding managerial roles for 9 years in Nestle, Greece in Contract Negotiations and Supply Cost Optimization.

Themis Papadopoulos

President, Cyprus Shipping Chamber

Themis Papadopoulos born in 1974 and graduated from the University of Warwick before joining Interorient Navigation Co Ltd in 1997. He served in various positions in the company before being appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2004, a position he still holds. He is the current President of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Vice Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping and a board member in various industry bodies including OEB. He is also a director of numerous companies including Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol and Tufton Oceanic Finance Group.

Yiannis Karousos
Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Republic of Cyprus

Yiannis Karousos was born on 21 November 1979 in Ayia Napa. He holds a BSc (Hons) in International Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Surrey, UK, where he specialized in strategic development of tourist destinations. Additionally, he holds an MBA (Joint) from the French ESSEC Business School and Cornell University, USA. He has also been awarded the tittle of Chartered Marketer from the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing. Prior to his appointment as a Minister of Transport, Communications and Works on December 3, 2019, he served as the Mayor of Ayia Napa (2013 - 2019) and as Municipal Councilor of Ayia Napa (2006 - 2013). He also, among others, assumed the positions of the President of the Famagusta Province Tourism Development and Promotion Society, Chairman of the Tourism Committee and as a member of the Cultural Committee of Ayia Napa Municipality. He is married to Maria Anastasi with whom they have two children.
