Market Outlook Series: Shipping
  • The COVID-19 pandemic has brought on an unexpected and extremely painful blow to the normality and surety of daily routine. For the past three months, Cyprus, like the rest of the world, has been experiencing an unprecedented health crisis for the modern world that has been mercilessly and indiscriminately affecting people across the globe. And the feeling of unease is growing bigger as no one knows when the pandemic will come to an end, leaving tomorrow to be uncertain.

As the COVID-19 crisis started spreading globally, we came to realise that no modern society and/or economy is invulnerable to its effects. And while we all agree that we are entering a global economic environment of deep recession, no one can predict how long this recession will last, or how and when the recovery will begin. No one knows how many professions, industries and businesses will shrink and to what extent, nor which sectors of the economy will recover and when.

In light of the above, IMH is organising a series of online conferences to offer an initial analysis of the economic implications of the COVID-19 crisis and discuss its effects on some key sectors of the Cyprus economy: Retail; Real Estate & Construction; Hotels, Travel & Tourism; and Shipping.
