He is Vice-Chair of the ECON Committee and an active member of INTA and FEMM. He is also active on the US and Korea delegations. Michiel began his professional career at KPMG. He has also been active in provincial politics in the Netherlands. His interest in the Korean peninsula spurred him to travel to North Korea and write a book about his discoveries.
