With more than 25 years business experience Paolo held senior positions in leading food retailers in Italy and abroad. He built up expertise in procurement, trading, marketing, retail, private label, category management. For more than 25 years he gathered operational experience in product development, brand segmentation and sales in the position of Director of Private Label as well as Commercial and Marketing Director. In these positions, he built a wide network in the market of Italian and international food producers for which significant value was created. By means of premium products (eg. Sapori & Dintorni, Creation d’Italie) he created Private Label brands relevant to consumers also based on sustainability and social responsibility. Paolo has been CEO of the second European fair trade Organization supplying almost 60% of the volume of fair trade products sold by retailer in Italy. Under his responsibility the Esselunga Private Label line was launched, a co-branded organic-Fairtrade products (BioEsselunga-Altromercato). He is author of the book Marketing of Typical Products, covering Premium Private Labels in large retailers. He is professor at Global MBA Food & Wine and Agrifood Management at Bologna University Business School.
