Susana Elisa Pavlou is an internationally recognized gender equality expert with over 18 years’ experience in project management, research and analysis, and strategic policy development. She has specific expertise in the area of preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, and has served as a senior researcher and expert for the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), the Council of Europe, and UN Women, among others. She is a firm advocate for civil society in Cyprus and holds an MSc in International Politics with an area concentration in the Middle East from the School of Oriental and African Studies SOAS), London University.

Mrs Annita Demetriou, is the first woman and the youngest person to serve as President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus. In 2016 she was first elected as a member of parliament and re-elected in 2021. She was also elected as President of the Democratic Rally (DISY) party of Cyprus on March 2023. She holds a university degree on Social and Political Sciences as well as a postgraduate title in International Relations and European Studies. She is an Ambassador of the global network of women politicians - Women Political Leaders (WPL) and represents Cyprus in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).  She participates in the Conference of Speakers of EU Parliaments (EUSC), in the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament of the Council of Europe, the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (EMPA), the Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth as well as in the Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of Small European States. She aims for and strives towards the advancement of parliamentary work, the modernisation and digital transformation of the functioning of the House of Representatives as well as the strengthening of the communication with the citizens, within an interactive framework. Her priorities include, among other issues, the promotion of human rights, the eradication of gender stereotypes, the protection of the environment and the strengthening of parliamentary diplomacy.

Constantinos Petrides assumed office as Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus on the 3rd of December 2019. Prior to his appointment, he served as Minister of Interior (1 May 2017 - 3 December 2019) and Deputy Minister to the President of the Republic of Cyprus (1st March 2013 – 30 April 2017). From September 2011 to February 2013 was the Director of the Office of the President of the Democratic Rally. In 2006 he was hired at the European Commission in Brussels where he worked as an economist at the Directorate-General for Agriculture and the Directorate General for Competition until September 2011. He studied Economics at the University of Nottingham and then acquired an MSc in Political Economy of Transition in Europe from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences.

Natasa Pilides served as Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Cyprus between July 2020 and March 2023. Previously, she was the first Deputy Minister of Shipping of the Republic of Cyprus, a role which she took up with the inception of the Shipping Deputy Ministry on 1 March 2018. Natasa has also served as the Director General of Invest Cyprus, the arm of the government responsible for investment promotion, investor support and facilitation of reform. Natasa’s work experience includes more than fifteen years in the private sector. She served as a Director and Regional Chief Operating Officer at Baker Tilly in South East Europe, while for 9 years she worked at PwC, in Cyprus, Milan and London in the areas of audit and tax consulting. Natasa graduated from Oxford University with a first-class honours degree with distinction in Modern Languages and Literature (French and Italian). She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) and a member of the Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC).

Dr Alexis Antoniades is an Associate Professor and Director of International Economics at Georgetown University in Qatar. A Fulbright scholar with a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University, he is an expert on global markets and a leading authority on the economies of the Gulf countries. His current research is on big data, prices, and job vacancies. Prof Antoniades previously worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and at Princeton University, as the recipient of the prestigious Niehaus Fellowship. In Qatar, Dr. Antoniades frequently advises the leadership of both public and private sector organizations.

Dr Sofronis Clerides is Professor of Economics and Dean of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Cyprus. He studied at the University of Wisconsin and at Yale University. He has research and/or teaching experience at the World Bank, the European University Institute, and Yale, Georgetown and Northwestern universities. His research on firm and consumer behavior has been published in prestigious international scientific journals. He has written many articles and conducted several studies on issues concerning the Cypriot economy and has served Cyprus from several posts, including the National Economic Council. He currently serves on two company boards.

Dr Michael Haliassos holds the Chair of Macroeconomics and Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt. He is Research Fellow of CEPR and of NETSPAR, Founding Director of the CEPR Network on Household Finance, Executive Board member of the IMFS, and advisor to the ECB on the Survey of Household Finances and Consumption since its inception in 2006. He received a B.A. from Cambridge University, and a Ph.D. from Yale University under the supervision of Nobel Laureates James Tobin and William Nordhaus. Haliassos' research interests lie in Macroeconomics and Finance with emphasis on household finance, where he has been among the early contributors.

Constantinos Papalucas is an Energy Policy/EastMed Specialist. He served as a Senior advisor to the Greek Minister of Environment and Energy and is currently leading the National Hydrogen Committee. He coordinates the Greek participation in the Important Projects of Common European Interest on Hydrogen putting the first Greek hydrogen projects in the pipeline. He also led the joint task force between the Greek Ministry and the U.S. Department of Energy that jointly developed a regional CCUS concept in Greece. During his tenure he has landed several world class major energy corporations to assess various upstream and midstream opportunities in Greece and invest in green technology ventures. In the past he served as an Associate at Harvard’s Belfer Center and at the U.S. Congress Energy&Commerce Committee. Constantinos is a graduate of Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Francesco is the Chief Executive Officer at Barclays Europe. Based in Dublin, he serves on the Board of Barclays Bank Ireland PLC, and leads the Barclays Europe Executive Committee. Francesco joined Barclays in London in 2010, as Global Head of Barclays Corporate Development, where in addition to corporate activity on Barclays’ behalf, he was responsible for all Principal Investments across Barclays Group. In 2018, he moved to the Investment Bank as Co-Head of Barclays EME Financial Institutions Group and was subsequently appointed Chief Executive Officer for Barclays Europe in 2020. Prior to Barclays, Francesco worked as a Senior Banker at JP Morgan in New York. Before JP Morgan, he held a number of senior roles at Bear Stearns, Lazard and GE Capital. Francesco holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from University of Oxford and a Master of Science in Economics and Philosophy from the London School of Economics.

Matt Sechovsky joined Fitch Solutions in 2019 and covers a wide range of political risks with a focus on EMEA. Before joining Fitch Solutions, Matt led the Europe team at a London-based security consultancy. Prior to that, he worked for a British development aid consultancy and the Czech Foreign Ministry in Prague. He holds a BSc in International Relations and Economics from the University of Economics in Prague, and an MA in Conflict, Security and Development from King's College London.

Ambassador Kornelios S. Korneliou studied Political Science, Philosophy and American Cultural History in Munich, Germany. Since 1989, Ambassador Korneliou is a member of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Cyprus. He served at the Embassy of Cyprus in Germany, in Austria, in France, as Permanent Representative to the European Union in Brussels, whereas he served as President of the Committee of the Permanent Representatives (COREPER) during the first Presidency of Cyprus of the Council of the European Union in 2012. He also served as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and as Secretary General of European Αffairs. He took over as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus on 1 April 2020. Ambassador Korneliou has received several decorations from Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Greece, Poland and the Holy See. He has also been awarded an Honorary doctor from the European University of Serbia.

Fiona McKergow is a career civil servant with experience across the Australian Government and has worked in a range of foreign policy, trade, humanitarian, and development roles focused role in the Pacific and South Asia. Prior to joining DFAT, Ms McKergow worked closely with the diplomatic network, industry and other government agencies on climate change policy and programming, live export trade, market access and trade negotiations and biosecurity issues. She began her career as wildlife officer before moving into a variety of policy roles that included assessment of international world heritage sites, international child adoption policies, environment management in Australia’s external territories, international fisheries policy issues and offshore refugee processing arrangements.

Satybaldy Burshakov joined Kazakh Foreign Ministry in November 1993 and he was posted to the Kazakh Embassy in Hungary from 1995 to 2000. He served at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Belgium and was Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to UNESCO. Mr Burshakov was engaged in the parliamentary diplomacy in his capacity as Head of the Department of Inter-Parliamentary Relations, Senate Administration and prior to his departure to Paris headed the Department of International Relations and Protocol in Mazhilis, lower chamber of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. During his tenure he also was a Secretary of the Kazakh Parliamentary Delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Before his appointment as Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Israel and Cyprus he served at the Administration of the President of Kazakhstan as Head of the Foreign Policy Center. In 2021 he has been awarded a Cyprus Diplomat of the Year Awards.

Ambassador Elke Merks-Schaapveld graduated in Contemporary History from the University of Leiden (1996), the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA (2003) and from the Ecole Nationale d’ Administration (2009) in Strasburg (Suma Cum Laude). She has been consultant at KPMG for several years, followed by numerous positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands: Policy officer on nuclear and non-proliferation affairs, First Secretary at the Embassy in Washington, First Secretary in Paris, Head of Cluster Security Council in The Hague, Chef cabinet EU Special Representative for the Sahel in Brussels, Head Political Dept/ Political Counsellor in Ankara. From the summer of 2020 she is Ambassador to Cyprus. Mrs. Merks-Schaapveld speaks several languages: Dutch (mother tongue), Fluent in French and English, Good proficiency in Portuguese and German, Basic knowledge of Turkish.

Myrto Zambarta was appointed Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus on 1st September 2021. She joined the European Commission in 2005, in the Directorate-General for Trade, where she spent most of her Commission career, working on issues such as financial services, trade defence and investment and negotiating EU trade agreements. She has also served as a Member of the Cabinet of Commissioner Christos Stylianides in the Juncker Commission, dealing with humanitarian aid and crisis management. Prior to joining the European Commission, she worked as a solicitor for the London firm Travers Smith. She is a graduate of Cambridge University, UK, where she read Law. Her postgraduate studies were in Banking and Finance Law (LL.M) and Finance (MSc) from the University of London. She speaks English and French; Greek is her mother tongue.

Evgenios Evgeniou is Chairman of Invest Cyprus since June 2022. He is a member of the Council of the University of Cyprus and of the National Board for Research and Innovation. He was Chairman and CEO of PwC Cyprus from 2012-2021 and Member of the Leadership Team of PwC EMEA, representing fifteen European territories from 2014 -2021. He provided services to the Financial Services and Energy sectors and he participated in the study on the long-term economic strategy for Cyprus, “Vision 2035”. He has an engineering degree from Imperial College, London and he is a Fellow Chartered Accountant.

Lysandros Ioannou is the Executive Chairman and major shareholder of PHC Franchised Restaurants Public Ltd, the leader of Restaurant, Cafés and Catering Industry in Cyprus. The PHC Group operates more than 100 units (Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, Wagamama, Caffé Nero, Jamie’s Italian, PAUL Burger King etc) in Cyprus and Greece employing more than 2300 persons. Graduate of the London School of Economics, he worked for Pepsi Cola International as Vice President Marketing (Middle East, Africa &Easter Europe) as well as Regional Vice President for Greece and the Balkans. He also worked for Procter & Gamble in different Marketing Assignments in Europe. Both the companies of the Group he leads and Lysandros Ioannou personally have been repeatedly recognised in Cyprus and abroad.

Nicos S. Kyriakides is the Financial Advisory Services Leader of Deloitte Cyprus. He has extensive experience of more than 38 years in Audit, Corporate Finance, Insolvency, Business Consulting and International Tax planning. He has led a large number of Consultancy and Financial Advisory projects across different industries relating to Valuations, Mergers and Acquisitions and Due Diligence Reviews, Reorganisations of Groups of companies, Capital and Debt Restructurings, Evaluation of NPL portfolios, Forensic and Insolvency work, Fairness Opinion Reports and Public Offerings. Nicos has prepared studies for the financing of Renewable Energy projects, Marinas, Golf courses, Hotels and large Real Estate Development projects. Nicos is a Chartered Accountant, fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), and holds a B.Sc. in Economics (Accounting & Finance) from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also a licensed insolvency practitioner in Cyprus.

Yannis Matsis heads the new MUFG Investor Services office in Cyprus, expected to grow to 400 staff over the coming 3 years. Previously, Yannis served as CEO of Hellenic Bank Group, as Global Head of Credit, Interest Rate and Foreign Exchange Derivatives at Mizuho in London, and as Global Head of Credit Derivatives at ING Barings in London. He also co-founded Point Nine, a Financial Technologies company, which was acquired by MUFG in 2019. Yannis currently serves as Chairman of the Boards of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics and Point Nine Data Trust. He previously served as Chairman of the Boards of the Association of Cyprus Banks and of Artemis Bank Information Systems, and as Member of the Boards of Hellenic Bank and the European Banking Federation in Frankfurt.

Panicos Nicolaou is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Bank of Cyprus since September 1, 2019. He joined the Bank in January 2001 and started his career serving at various positions, mainly in the Corporate and Credit Risk departments. He was the Manager in the Restructuring and Recoveries Division from April 2014 until June 2016.  From June 2016 until August 2019, he served as Director of Corporate Banking Division. He holds a diploma (5-year degree) in Mechanical Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (Metsovio Polytechnic) in Greece, and an MSc in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the USA. He also holds a BSc in Financial Services/ACIB from the School of Management, UMIST in the UK. Panicos is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Cyprus Banks (ACB), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Employers’ Association of Cyprus Banks, and member of the Board of Directors of the European Banking Federation (EBF). He is also Board member and member of the Executive Committee of the Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB).

Dr Niklas Swanström is the Director of the Institute for Security and Development Policy, and one of its co-founders. He is a Fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Senior Associate Research Fellow at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI). His main areas of expertise are conflict prevention, conflict management and regional cooperation; Chinese foreign policy and security in Northeast Asia; the Belt and Road Initiative, traditional and non-traditional security threats and its effect on regional and national security as well as negotiations. His focus is mainly on Northeast Asia, Central Asia and Southeast Asia.

Andreas Neocleous is the first CEO of Cyta, Cyprus’ largest telecommunications organisation, to have been appointed from the private sector. Elias Neocleous is the Managing Partner of Elias Neocleous & Co LLC, Cyprus’ largest and most progressive international law firm. Constantinos Herodotou is the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) and a member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank. Previously he served as an Executive Director at the CBC’s Board of Directors (2017-2019). He also held the position of the Commissioner of Privatisations in Cyprus (2014-2017). Before moving to Cyprus in 2014, most of his career was in investment banking at UBS Investment Bank in London, where he rose through the ranks to head concurrently two sectors: Shipping for Europe, Middle East and Africa and simultaneously Infrastructure & Concessions Advisory / Project Finance for Central & Eastern Europe. He has advised governments and global conglomerates on major financial transactions and strategy, totaling a value of over €50 billion. His experience includes among others structuring and heading complex negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, project concessions, listing companies on stock exchanges (NASDAQ and NYSE), structuring and raising equity and debt, corporate and financial restructurings and project finance. Constantinos Herodotou holds an MBA from London Business  School and a BSc in Economics from University College London.

Yannis Stournaras is Professor of Economics at the University of Athens (MPhil, DPhil, Oxford University). He served as Minister of Finance (July 2012- June 2014). Since June 2014 he is Governor of the Bank of Greece and Member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank. From February 2020 he is Chairman of the Audit Committee of the European Central Bank.

Mário Centeno is the Governor of Banco de Portugal and member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank since July 2020.  He served as President of the Eurogroup and Chair of the Board of Governors of the European Stability Mechanism, and for over four years he was Finance Minister of Portugal. An experienced economist, Mr Centeno has held several positions in Banco de Portugal, where he started his career in 1993. He has a strong academic background with a PhD in Economics, from Harvard University, and has published several academic papers.

Simon MacAdam has been working at Capital Economics – a macroeconomic research house based in London – for the past seven years. In this time, he has covered UK macro, commodity and financial markets, and has spent the past five years producing research on global macro, with a particular interest in inflation. His other research interests include labour markets, monetary policy, and political economy. He holds an MSc in Economic History from the LSE, and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Durham University.

Charlotte de Montpellier is Senior Economist at ING Belgium. She is responsible for economic forecasts for France and Switzerland and closely follows European and global macroeconomic developments. She has been working at ING since 2018, and before that was a research and teaching assistant at one of Belgium’s major universities, UCLouvain.

The Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry was established in its present form in 1962 and represented the first concerted effort of the Limassol business community to have an organization to defend its interests and promote economic growth. This year (2022), the Chamber completes 60 years of life and creative presence at the forefront of initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and achieve optimum economic development. The Chamber remains as committed as ever to its twin objectives, of supporting its members in various ways and lobbying for development projects that will enhance Limassol’s competitiveness and upgrade its inhabitants’ quality of life.
