Cyprus Innovation Technologies is organizing its first major conference on Artificial Intelligence. The conference, entitled “Demystifying & Unleashing AI,” will take place on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 08:30 AM at Royal Hall in Nicosia.

Andri Michael is a Partner in the Financial Services and Funds Department at Kinanis LLC and has been practising law for over 20 years. With extensive experience in Corporate Law, Banking & Finance, and Capital Markets, she is a leading figure in Financial Services and Funds Advisory, Listings, Blockchain Consulting, and Financial and Regulatory Compliance. She is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association and serves as Vice President of its Financial Services Committee. Additionally, Andri has been elected Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of CY.I.T. Cyprus Innovation Technologies. Andri is also a member of the Regulatory Committee of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association. Ms. Michael has contributed to numerous publications on listings, funds, cryptoassets, and blockchain matters.

George has more than 25 years of experience in ICT. He holds a B.Eng in Computer Engineering and an MSc in Communications Systems. He worked for more than 14 years for multinational organizations holding various regional senior ICT roles, accountable for the provision of impeccable service, through reorganizations, outsourcing and the implementation/adoption of IT Best Practices. Since 2014, he is leading the Cyprus National Regulatory Authority (OCECPR) for Electronic Communications and Postal Services as well as additionally in 2018, the regulatory authority for Network and Information Security (NIS) for Critical Information Infrastructures (CIIs). As part of this responsibility he has setup and operate the National CSIRT. His office is also the coordinating body for the implementation of Cyprus Cybersecurity Strategy as well as to operate the National Coordination Center, responsible to boost research excellence and competitiveness of the country/Union in the field of cybersecurity. As part of his regulatory duties he is a Board member of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the European Cybersecurity Competence Center (ECCC).

Mr Nicodemos Damianou was born in Lefkosia in 1973. He holds a Sc.B Degree in Computer Science from Brown University USA, a Ph.D in Computer Security & Policy-based Management of enterprise-wide Computer Networks from Imperial College UK, a Diploma of Information Security from Imperial College, and an MBA from the University of Cyprus. He is an IT and Information Security professional with many years of experience in Payment Systems and Fintech, Risk Management Methodologies and Digital Transformation Technologies. He served at managerial positions within the Bank of Cyprus Group. From November 2017 to January 2024 he was the General Manager of JCC Payment Systems Ltd.


Panayiotis is the head of Technology and AI at Pelaghias, Christodoulou, Vrachas LLC, a firm with over 100 years of excellence since its founding in 1920, where he leads the firm’s strategic initiatives in digital transformation and regulatory compliance at the intersection of tech and AI. Panayiotis provides strategic guidance and innovative solutions tailored to the evolving challenges in the technology and financial services industries. His approach is characterised by a deep understanding of the intersection between technology and financial services, combined with a comprehensive knowledge of regulatory compliance. This enables him to offer forward-thinking advice that helps clients navigate a rapidly changing environment. He also represents Cyprus as one of two delegates for the ISO TC307 Blockchain committee under the Cyprus Organisation for Standardisation (CYS). Panayiotis is a regular speaker at industry conferences and contributes to various publications, where he shares insights on emerging trends and best practices.

Ondřej Kovařík has been a Member of the European Parliament elected in the Czech Republic since 2019. He is currently a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, the Committee on Budgets, and the Committee on Transport and Tourism. His portfolio spans from capital markets and competitiveness and support for small and medium-sized enterprises to the practical application of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and the development of digital finance. Among other things, he was the author of an opinion report on artificial intelligence. He was the rapporteur for the directive on payment services and shadow rapporteur on the respective regulation. He also negotiated the Open Finance proposal and played a substantive role in shaping the regulation on markets in cryptoassets. Additionally, he served as rapporteur for the LIBE opinion to the Digital Markets Act proposal.

Sotos Angeli is a Director in the Technology Consulting department at EY Cyprus, with a strong focus on digital transformation, data, and AI. Holding a BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and an MSc in Computer Science from Imperial College London, he has extensive experience advising clients on large-scale digital, data, and AI transformation projects across multiple regions. With over a decade of experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Nikolas Markou leads AI strategy and implementation at Electi Consulting, helping businesses harness the power of data and machine learning. He specializes in developing practical AI solutions that deliver measurable business results across various industries. His approach combines technical expertise with business acumen, ensuring AI implementations deliver substantial ROI while solving real-world challenges for clients throughout Europe and beyond.

Antigone Modestou, has held the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Internal Auditor in Cyta. She is an expert on steering an organisation toward financial success. The main thrusts of her approach are visionary strategy and operational excellence. She is an expert on process evaluation and redesign. She has commissioned and directed large projects in telco billing, costing and profitability which she presented in numerous conferences abroad. As CFO she delved deeply into creating an arsenal of CFO strategy information systems in which she included an AI revenue prediction engine which is instrumental in the organisation’s strategy decisions.

Demetris Skourides is the Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation, and Technology of the Republic of Cyprus and Chairman of the National AI Taskforce. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from Arizona State University and an MBA from Henley Management College. Additionally, he has been trained in digital transformation, AI, data monetization, and sales through programs at Columbia, Stanford, MIT, and Harvard. With a career spanning Oracle and Amazon Web Services, he has held executive roles across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. At Oracle, where he worked since 2006, he played a key role in driving cloud and ISV solutions transformation. He later joined AWS as Industry Strategist for EMEA, focusing on financial services, retail, manufacturing, and energy. Demetris Skourides spearheaded the establishment of Cloud Partner Centres of Excellence in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, South Korea, Kenya, and South Africa, enabling innovation and new revenue streams. He also chairs the Board of Directors of the Research and Innovation Foundation (ex officio).

Dr Theodosis Mourouzis is a cryptologist and information security professional with strong interests in both academia and industry. He is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Cyprus Innovation Technologies centre. He holds a BA/MA in Mathematics and a MSc in Pure Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, a MRes in Security Science and a PhD in Information Security with specialization in Cryptography from University College London. Theo is the Managing Director and Partner of Electi Consulting, a consultancy specializing in Blockchain, Cryptography and Artificial Intelligence. He is also Industry Associate at UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies and Expert in Residence at the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the London Business School. He has extensive experience working with governments, leading companies and organizations such as European Commission, European Central Bank (ECB), Cyprus government, Qatar Government, Lloyds Bank, US Navy, MSC Shipmanagement and many others.

Elpidoforos Anastasiou has developed AI-driven sustainability projects and space exploration programs that are transforming education. He created AI Sustainable Cities, integrating AI into real-world urban challenges, and the Einstein Junior Project, bringing robotics and AI learning to 12 European schools. He established nine Space Centers in Paris, Milan, Rome, London, Nice, Larnaca, Limassol, and Nicosia, giving students hands-on experience in space science and technology. His space education program is implemented in over 85 public schools in Cyprus, and he founded Cyprus Space Foundation and Cyprus Space Week, engaging 12,000+ students. His work has been featured in Reuters and BBC News, shaping the future of STEAM education globally.
