Josie Christodoulou holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Indianapolis, USA, and a MA on Racial Equality Studies, from Middlesex University, UK. She is an expert on women’s rights, the promotion of gender equality and trafficking in human beings. She worked as a Policy Coordinator at the Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies (MIGS) and served on the board of the Cyprus Women’s Lobby. She contributed to the creation of the European Network of Migrant Women in Brussels. As Advisor to the Cyprus Minister of Foreign Affairs, from 2019 to January 2022, she worked on mainstreaming gender in foreign policy. In March 2023, she was appointed Presidential Commissioner for Gender Equality. Ms. Christodoulou has contributed to the development and amendment of different legislations on women’s rights and gender equality and has published research reports and book chapters.
